A wildfire is occurring near San Bernardino, CA and is impacting rail operations in the area. The rail between Yermo, CA and Colton, CA is closed due fire damage to bridges and rail. Power lines, road closures and dense smoke from the fire has resulted in unsafe rail operations. At this point, the fire is not contained and no ETA on when it will be contained.
The UP uses the BNSF track for traffic destined to/from Chicago interchange, Omaha, Denver and Salt Lake. The UP has started to divert trains to/from Chicago interchange over the El Paso routing. However, Omaha, Denver and Salt Lake will experience delays on loaded units.
