Modification to MITA Item 810 Storage and Free Time

Dear Intermodal Customer,

Fluidity in our Intermodal Terminals is critical to providing continued growth for our International and Domestic Intermodal Customers.

Effective October 1, 2016 the changes in Item 810 will be applied to shipments as detailed below:

Domestic: Shipments in 28, 48 and 53 foot intermodal equipment (containers or trailers) billed as domestic shipments

International: Shipments in 20, 40 or 45 foot intermodal equipment (containers) billed as an international or ISO shipment

Any shipment with van notification date on or after October, 1 2016 will be subject to the following changes:

  1. Van Notification event will now occur before or after 1200PM on Friday (vs. 1700) at the following terminals
  2. LATC, CA Kansas City, MO
    Los Angeles, CA Portland (Brooklyn), OR
    Global 2, IL Port Laredo, TX
    DIT, TX  
  3. Terminals with +24 hours free time

    IF Van Notify event is between Friday 1200 to Saturday 1700, the day of notification  is Sunday at the following terminals:

  4. Terminal Shipment
    LATC, CA Both
    Los Angeles, CA Both
    Global 2, IL Domestic
    Port Laredo, TX Domestic
    Brooklyn, OR Both
  5. Terminals with +48 hours free time

    IF Van Notify event is between Friday 1200 to Saturday 1700, the day of notification  is Saturday at the following terminals:

  6. Terminal Shipment
    Kansas City, MO Both
    DIT, TX International
    Global 2, IL International
    Port Laredo, TX International
